Colorado Junior Crew (CJC) was started in 2007. Our mission has always been clear, to give youth athletes in the Boulder area an opportunity to row. We love to teach kids of all levels a sport that is both physically and mentally challenging as well as offering a great social outlet during their teen years. Our coaches are highly passionate not only about the sport, but about coaching youth athletes and making an impact on their life in a sport that they will hopefully continue for years to come.

Meet our Coaches

Michael’s rowing journey began in 2008 during his freshman year at Boone High School in Orlando, FL. Over his four years of high school racing, he competed in more than 60 regattas throughout the Southeast, was elected Captain of the men's varsity team his senior year, and first discovered his passion for coaching while mentoring the middle school team.

In 2012, Michael moved to Louisiana to study Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering and Accounting at the University of New Orleans. Upon arrival, he immediately joined the New Orleans Rowing Club (NORC). He spent the next seven years deeply embedded in the NORC community as a masters rower, junior/masters coach, and the lead Learn-to-Row coach, personally introducing over 200 athletes to the sport.

Michael relocated to Broomfield, Colorado in 2019 and joined Boulder Community Rowing. Over his tenure there, he wore many hats—serving as an assistant coach, competitive rower, board member, and ultimately the Head Coach and Program Manager, where he focused on expanding the sport's footprint in the greater Boulder area.

Today, Michael is thrilled to bring his 15+ years of rowing and coaching experience to Colorado Junior Crew as the Head Coach. He is incredibly excited to lead the program, develop competitive youth athletes, and continue growing a passionate, dedicated rowing culture in Colorado.

When Michael is not coaching or rowing, he can usually be found building software, riding his bike, or trying to figure out the fluid dynamics of rowing on a frozen reservoir.

A roster of assistant coaches will assist Myke.
